What is Melissa Click Up to Now?
America do you remember this woman? It's entirely possible you don't. Like me, you probably remember her like this:
Yep that is former University of Missouri assistant professor of communications Dr. Melissa Click. For those for you who don't know her sordid story let me fill you in:
On November 9, 2015 in an attempt to demonstrate solidarity with the African American community led by the radical organization "Concerned Student 1950" (on which Click served as de facto communications director for) Click assaulted a student reporter on university campus and was recorded saying that she "needed some muscle" in removing the reporter from the protest site. In due course the recorded video was uploaded to Youtube, and Click received backlash on a national scale that culminated in her being fired from the University of Missouri in early 2016. Interestingly Click, as recently as this past spring, argues that her firing from the university was racially motivated and that her position "as a white lady made me an easy target".
That is an easy way for someone to absolve themselves of a larger responsibility, but that is not what I take issue with. What I have a problem with is that Ms.Click has been rehired as an assistant communications professor at Gonzaga University in Spokane Washington. Her position at the University, BTW, is as a guest lecturer specializing "on popular culture texts and audiences disdained in mainstream culture". So basically kids at Gonzaga University are paying to take a class to hear Dr. Click bullshit on how hard it is to be a white women unduly fired from a university. What a struggle!
Personally I do not want to give her anymore attention than she has already had, but I want to point out that it is especially unfair that the current students of Gonzaga (mostly freshmen) will have to take her Intro to Communications courses as a core requirement to graduate. This woman clearly has a larger agenda at work, and while she may just be a guest lecturer now, I would not be surprised to see her pop up again soon in the larger mainstream media circus. All eyes on Melissa Click.

If there is a Youtube video of someone acting badly, does that mean they are damned for all time? Do they have no hope of redemption, no possibility of making amends?
