The Truth

When you think about politics I don’t know about you but I think currently about Trump vs. Hillary and the state of current election. The reason that’s what I think is because of all the advertisement I’ve seen and all the crazy things I’ve read. The media is one of the most powerful tools that political figures use to their advantage everyday. With the power of media a presidential candidate has the power to rise to the top or plummet to the bottom. Both of these examples are evident in politics today.
Donald trump is a prime example of what media can do for you in politics. If you take a step back and think from a larger perspective trumps whole campaign is based on the principles and ideas of Oscar Wilde. He was famously quoted, “The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.” Which later transitioned into the more famous saying of, “There is no such thing as bad publicity.” Media may have given birth to one of the worse presidential candidates of all time. Because no matter what you say about Donald trump whether you think he is terrible or think he will make America great again, at the end of the day you are talking about him.
In todays media you never know what people will be drawn too or what they will make a viral hit. Trump memes and funny videos only add to his cause, yes people will become very aware of what he is and what he says but if the whole country is talking about him I can guarantee some of the country wont care about his antics and might actually want to vote for him.
Hillary Clinton is on the other spectrum of media, every news article, every tweet, or meme that makes fun of her emails and the situation actually hurts her. When you ask yourself why it is that this happens I myself cant seem to find a answer, maybe its because we expect better of her or maybe its because we expect trump to be this evil that we have to make sure doesn’t get elected.

  1. Are you failing to capitalize the last name of our president-elect out of carelessness or malice?

  2. This specific topic revolving around politics is very controversial and interesting to think about. But you could definitely make your argument much stronger. You can make it stronger by adding in more details and examples for how much the media influences the election or politics in general. Also to have this post more structured you could have added in a conclusion paragraph to pull all your information together.

  3. I agree with you when you say that "In todays media you never know what people will be drawn too or what they will make a viral hit." Anything social media creates about Donald Trump whether it be positive or negative, only gives him more attention. It only gives him more media time and attention from potential voters that only learn about him through social media, and might have voted for him because the "funny memes" they've seen online.

    1. continuation: although seeing some examples would have been nice. A Trump meme? One of his tweets? A headline of something else that Clinton did wrong? Overall a good strong opinion piece but more sources could be added in for some more insight.
