After the Election, all attention was paid to the outcome
of the election, including the “winner”, now presidential elect Donald Trump.
All eyes were on him- what he was up to since his big win, what he plans on
doing in his first few weeks of being president, and so forth. Hilary is the “loser”
of the election, and I feel as if not enough attention is being paid to her.
Losing an election as big as this one is just as important as winning it. She
went through just as much as Trump did, if not more, and went through the same
stressful processes. Hilary deserves to be looked at with respect and
admiration even for losing the election.
Hilary’s
concession speech was one for the books. She did two things out of the
ordinary, that no ex-presidential candidate had done before in a concession
speech. She wore purple instead of the traditional red, clearly steering away
from American tradition, but sending a message that she can accept defeat. She
also apologized to ger supports. In her speech Clinton says: “I’m sorry that we did not win this election for the
values we share and the vision we hold for our country […] I know how
disappointed you feel, because I feel it too,” she added.
Another
thing Hilary Clinton has been up to; hiking! Not long ago, a New York mom who
happened to be a heartbroken supporter, coincidentally met Clinton while on a
hike. This was the first sighting of Hilary and Bill out and about after losing
the presidential election. “I got to hug her and talk to her and tell her that one of my
most proudest moments as a mother was taking [her daughter] Phoebe with me to
vote for her,” says New York mom. This seems to be a rewarding
experience for both of them, because they each got to support each other after
what seems to not only be a loss for Clinton but supporters country wide.
I truly feel for Clinton. Many people thought she had the election in the bag. Trump, however, had to completely upset the status quo and ruin Clinton's plans. It's really is shocking when you consider all the political experience Clinton has over Trump. It's actually quite disheartening.
ReplyDeleteHow much respect and admiration would you be feeling for Trump if he had lost? Would you have written this blog post with his name, instead of hers?
